The Love Of Border Collie's
I understand how to work and keep the mind working with the border collies. As my dogs and I both need a job that keep our mind's active. "I have a good laugh when people see my border collies laying around on the couches or on the floor of the living room and people go OMG you have border collies how much do you have to do with them to get them to lay down like this" My answer tends to be a smile and a comeback of "you should ask me how I get the whippet to settle down as he goes none stop all day." I fell in love with the Border Collies when I was a little girl growing up in the heart of farmland in Missouri. A border collie should be a well-balanced dog that can move without effort, be able to turn on to work and shut off to come into the house.
I like my dogs to be all around dogs that get to play in a little bit of everything. They are shown in AKC and UKC. Rally, Obedience, Tracking, Schutzhund and French Ring. The have worked stock such as ducks, sheep, and cattle. And started to do some Agility work. They also can be seen visiting Children's Hospital for Therapy work. I do not see the point in breeding a dog that cannot work stock as that is what they were bred for and should still be able to do. Once one of our dogs are used in our breeding program, we call them lifers. Once they are done breeding, they are spayed or neutered and live out their days on the couch/dog beds, or our bed. We honor them and enjoy time with our "old people". We do not feel it is right to ask a 6 -7-year-old dog to find out how to live in a new house with a new family, it's hard enough when puppies have to get use to new homes, and we do not feel it is right to make our old dogs live through learning new rules again. With this everyone gets a great welcoming crew who enjoys showing off their tv, couches, and toys and getting extra love from visitors. We are honored to provide our retired dogs with a safe and guaranteed life. |
Who We Have Worked With
Stacey started working with Springer from KingsRow kennel out of Fulton Mo, Owned by Judie Davies. With Judy Stacey learned how to lead train puppies and start young show dogs . Stacey was also taught how to condition a coat , keeping it shining and healthy looking and keep a show dog in top muscle condition. This is where the love for dog showing and breeding all started.
Over the years Stacey has worked with quite a few people, from the New England area. Stacey started taking handling classes from Bill Burrell and Sue Burrel, when she she started back into AKC showing, Later helping the Burrells at shows when they needed the extra hand. For a number of years Stacey worked with Julie Lacy-Black out of Maine and owner of Lacey Kennel. Learning how to show the hounds and getting help with getting Tattie. Stacey traveled to shows with Julie across the country getting experience in showing different breeds and learning how to show in the group ring. Stacey gained a tone of experience working with Lacy Kennels. Stacey has helped Kathy Clark with the Springer when help is needed, and also has helped Philip Moore as needed for German Shepard's. For 3 years Stacey could be found working and handle for Lazy Daze Golden's . This was Stacey's first step into Golden land and where she learned the grooming and hard work it takes to win in the golden ring. Today Stacey can be seen in the golden ring with Tangleloft Golden's and socializing Stone Ledge Golden's. Along with Handling work Stacey has been around the grooming shop for a number of years. She has worked for Linda Kay of Paws for Applause, Mo Doyle of Shamrock Solutions and Jessica Lock for a number of years doing prep work and bathing.
